Warts are common, treatable skin growths caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). If you’re dealing with a painful plantar wart, a stubborn hand wart, or sensitive concerns like genital warts, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself.
Warts are non‑cancerous growths of the skin caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can show up anywhere on the body, often on hands, feet, and areas exposed to minor skin trauma. Many warts clear on their own over time, but others become painful, spread, or are cosmetically bothersome, and that’s when treatment helps. We are committed to helping you achieve results while prioritising your comfort throughout the process.
Good to know: Warts are very common in children and teens, athletes, nail‑biters, and anyone with frequent skin friction or moisture exposure (like swimmers). Treating earlier can reduce spread and discomfort.
Firm, rough “cauliflower‑like” bumps most often on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows. May show tiny black dots (clotted capillaries).
Occur on the soles of the feet. Pressure can push them inward, causing pain with walking. Can form clusters (mosaic warts).
Small, smooth, flat‑topped lesions, often in larger numbers on the face, shins, or backs of hands.
Long, narrow projections that may appear around the mouth, eyes, or nose. They can grow quickly and be cosmetically bothersome.
Grow around or under the nails. These can distort nail growth and are often more resistant to home treatment.
We approach this with care and confidentiality. These warts affect the genital and anal areas. They are medically common and treatable; your dignity and comfort are our priority.
HPV infects the top layer of skin (epidermis) through tiny breaks, leading to increased keratin production and a raised lesion. Different HPV types tend to prefer different body sites.
Skin‑to‑skin contact, shared surfaces (like pool decks), shaving/picking, and moisture—especially in occluded or sweaty areas—can all encourage spread.
Many treatments aim to irritate or stimulate the immune system so it recognizes and clears the wart virus locally.

Typical warts are benign. If a lesion bleeds easily, changes rapidly, or doesn’t match a typical wart pattern, we’ll examine it closely.
Rarely required, but may be considered for atypical lesions or if other diagnoses are possible.
Clearing the visible wart doesn’t always remove all infected cells. Multiple sessions or different modalities may be needed.
There’s a lot of misinformation out there. Here are common myths, and the facts our expert wart team shares with patients every day.
Fact: Warts come from human papillomaviruses (HPV), not animals. Skin‑to‑skin contact and shared surfaces are the usual routes.
Fact: Anyone can get warts, even the most hygienic people. Micro‑cuts, friction, and moisture are the key risk factors.
Fact: DIY removal can lead to pain, infection, scarring, and spread. Professional care is safer and more effective.
Fact: Warts are contagious, but not everyone exposed will get them. It depends on immune system response and skin health.
Fact: Some warts disappear on their own as the immune system fights the virus, but this can take months or even years.
Fact: While HPV can survive on surfaces, transmission this way is rare. Most spread happens through direct skin contact or shared personal items (like razors).
Fact: Freezing (cryotherapy) is common, but treatments also include topical medications, laser therapy, and specialized procedures at medical clinics.
